Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Chesswitch and this website handle information. Chesswitch is operated by Ahmet Buğra Kaçdı. For privacy questions or requests, contact support@chesswitch.com.

Information stored on your device

Chesswitch stores preferences, local saved games and local match history in the app’s storage. Local diagnostic counters and available Apple MetricKit crash or responsiveness summaries may also be stored on your device. These local diagnostic summaries and offline match history are not automatically uploaded by Chesswitch. If you choose to share a diagnostic report or a game, the information included in that report is shared through the service you select.

Accounts and online play

When you sign in using Apple, Google or email, Firebase Authentication processes the sign-in information needed to authenticate you. Depending on your sign-in method, this can include your account identifier, name, email address and authentication information. A session is stored securely on your device so you can remain signed in.

For online play, Chesswitch processes your account identifier, public username and avatar, match and room identifiers, game actions, clocks, results, rating and access eligibility. These records allow us to operate matches, reconnect players, maintain history and leaderboards, and prevent abuse or conflicting results.

Your chosen public username, avatar, rating and relevant match statistics can be shown to other players. Your email address and sign-in identifier are not shown as part of your public profile. Online opponents receive the game information needed to play the match.

Purchases and subscriptions

Apple processes App Store payments. Chesswitch uses RevenueCat and its server to verify subscription access. Purchase-related data can include product and transaction identifiers, purchase and expiration dates, subscription status and a pseudonymous account token connecting a purchase to your Chesswitch account. Chesswitch does not receive your complete payment-card details.

Player safety

Public usernames are checked for prohibited content. You can report a player or block future ranked matchmaking from player controls. Reports include your account identifier, the reported player, a selected reason and, when supplied, the relevant match identifier. Reports and review decisions expire after a 90-day abuse-review period and are removed by scheduled cleanup. Block relationships remain until unblocked or either account is deleted. Blocking does not interrupt an active game or change its result.

Sign-in service information

When you use Google sign-in, Google may also process phone contact information, approximate location, account and device identifiers, usage information and other service data to provide authentication and analyse its service. Firebase Authentication may process diagnostic information for service analytics and reliability. These service providers describe their processing in their own privacy policies. Chesswitch does not display this technical or contact information in your public player profile.

Website and support

If you contact support, we process the contact details and information you provide to respond and resolve your request. Please do not send passwords or full payment-card details.

The legal website does not use advertising cookies or analytics scripts. Its hosting provider processes network information, such as IP addresses and request metadata, to deliver and secure the website.

Why information is used and who processes it

We use information to provide the service you request, authenticate accounts, operate online games, verify access, respond to support requests, maintain security and comply with applicable legal obligations. Where applicable law requires a legal basis, processing relies on performing the service contract, legitimate interests in service operation and security, legal obligations, or consent where required.

Service providers include Google/Firebase for authentication, Cloudflare for hosting and online infrastructure, RevenueCat for subscription verification, and Apple for sign-in and App Store payments where selected. Support email is routed through Cloudflare to a Gmail inbox. Providers process information according to their roles and applicable terms. We may also disclose information when legally required or necessary to protect users and the service.

Chesswitch does not sell personal information or use it for cross-app advertising tracking. Service providers may process information outside your country. Applicable safeguards and transfer requirements depend on the provider, processing location and law that applies.

Retention and account deletion

Information is kept for as long as needed to operate the relevant feature, resolve disputes, maintain security or meet legal obligations. Local files remain on your device until removed through app controls or by deleting the app, subject to your device’s backup settings. Online match history is limited by the app’s history-storage rules.

You can request account deletion in Profile > Manage account > Delete account. Reauthentication may be required. Deletion removes your server profile, personal ratings, online history, local subscription-access records, reports and block relationships. You may need to finish or resign from a private match first; deletion during an active ranked match may record a resignation. Other players keep their own results. Settled technical match and result-ledger records replace your fixed account identifier with a separate marker for each match, so they no longer share your account identifier or public player identifier.

Short-lived authentication revocation records remain for up to 3,700 seconds after deletion. Separate game-recovery checkpoints may retain opaque session tokens for up to seven days. RevenueCat customer deletion is queued and checked until the provider confirms completion; the customer token remains in a restricted cleanup queue while that request is pending and is removed from the queue when confirmed. Provider outages may delay this background step. Apple may retain purchase records under its own obligations and policies.

Deleting your account does not automatically delete local games or preferences and does not cancel an Apple subscription. Cancel the subscription separately through Apple subscription management.

Your choices and rights

You can edit supported profile details in the app, manage your Apple subscription, delete local records using available controls, or delete your account. Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, receive a copy of, restrict or object to processing of your personal information, and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Contact support@chesswitch.com to make a request. We may need to verify your identity. You may also contact the relevant data protection authority.

If a child uses the service, a parent or guardian should provide any permission required by applicable law and supervise the account and purchases. If you believe a child’s information has been provided without a required permission, contact us so we can review and address it.

We may update this policy as the service or applicable requirements change. The date above identifies the current version.
